That whole place looks amazing! I have relatives I’ve never met in Austria and have been dying to go visit! I’m planning on going this upcoming Fall and I would absolutely love for a chance to hike the Alps and explore that amazing scenery! instead of choosing 1 adventure, my ideal day would be going hiking, biking, and skiing! Followed by 1 of those delicious gourmet meals and relaxing with some of the best views in the entire world from my private balcony!
a perfect day in the alps: with my boy, a beer and nothing more. #17
A prefect day in Alps- throw my phone and other technology into the lake, grab a best girlfriend and spend the whole time laughing, hiking and relaxing.
My ideal day in the Alps would start with breakfast in bed, before going to the mountains. I’d love to spend a holiday in Austria in winter cause there’s so much snow! Can’t remember the last time we had a white Christmas where I’m from. Anyway, I’d definitely spend the whole day trying to learn how to ski or snowboard, build some snowmen and have a snowball fight with my boyfriend! We’d then end the day with hot cocoa and an Austrian Brotzeit at the fireplace. That’s what I’m dreaming of 🙂
The perfect day… me and my soldier (I’ll scoop him up in Germany 🙂 ) sleep in til 9 which is late for us, hike to the top of the mountain and enjoy a big Austrian picnic with some of that special wine, come back down for a swim and float in the lake (I don’t know how to swim so maybe this is where I can finally learn!), take a stroll around the gardens, and since this is a getaway… just relax and get to enjoy seeing my sweetheart since our visits to see each other are sporadic. Spending a day with him in Austria is incredibly exciting to just think about
And MY favourite part of the day would be running to the nearest meadows, channelling my Julie Andrews, and singing The Hills Are Alive… yes, silly but 100% serious!! 🙂 as a nanny, what better way to honour The Ultimate Nanny?! Lastly, meet up with my Von Trapp and stuff our faces with delicious Austrian food, naturally, and stargaze.
Please please I really like it!! I would be extremely happy to win this!! It is also not far from me so I could go there without a problem and spend 2 wonderful nights with my boyfriend! This looks like a really nature-friendly and cosy place to be! 🙂
Hiking in summer and enjoying the lake 🙂
Wow, this place looks gorgeous! A beautiful experience to enjoy either in the winter or during summer, in the Austrian Alps. I fell in love with the mountains while I was living in Chile and I would love to go the alps and enjoy those stunnings views. My perfect day would began with a delicious breakfast watching the sunrise over the mountains. After that I would go snowboarding and in the afternoon after a hot chocolate I would hike and smell all that nature around me. To complete a perfect day I would watch the sunset from the balcony and relax.
Oh wow this looks so peaceful and calm.
After one year of no vacation & just work, this is how I would spend my perfect day:
Sleep in, put on some huge knit socks and have a huge cup of coffee in bed while reading a book. I’d leave the iPhone turned off, because seriously: it’s not the end of the world. I would enjoy the breakfast and go for a nice long run in this beautifully scenery. Taking in all the impressions around me. Then maybe some more reading and a great lunch somewhere beautiful. Then I would either go back to bed with my book or discover the area – whatever feels right that day.
The perfect day….would start with an early morning hike, followed by a hearty breakfast. The morning would continue for a search of cows wearing bells and a hearty late afternoon lunch and relaxing with a book on the balcony. The evening would definitely include some local, traditional food, music and dance.
I love hiking and swimming so definitely those two activities in picturesque Austria!
SNOW!!!! Oh my gosh you guys. I’m really, really, REALLY missing snow this year. I love the idea of watching the sunrise with a cuppa and then spending the day cross country skiing through the Alps. This sounds amazing! Fingers crossed big time!
Oh wow! How can a day not be perfect starting with a delicious breakfast with those views and going for a swim in the lake?!
I would love to visit Austria, as I never been. It would be great to do some hiking, since I haven’t been able to do a proper nature holiday since I was a child. We used to spend our family holidays camping in the mountains and hiking with my parents and sister. So my perfect day would definitely include some hiking and cycling in the morning, then we would have a lovely lunch by the lake and we would, of course, jump in for a refreshing bath! Exciting!
staying in bed until late, having a long brekky on the terrace, then a hike or walk, lunch outside, spa and then dinner.
I am Austrian! Though I rarely make it out of the very East – Vienna. So a day in the Alps would be celebrated with my little sister of course! Enjoying a long relaxing breakfast/brunch and afterwards hiking and wandering around, soaking up the incredibly fresh air. Taking lots of photos of that unbelievable greenery and later enjoy a quick late lunch, cycle along the lake or even take a swim (depends on the season). Before we end the day with lots of chatter only sisters can do, all bundled up at the fire place with hot chocolate on hand! Bliss 🙂
My perfect day would be to woke up in a charming room with my boyfriend, going for a cross country ski session (never tried it before, but I heard it’s a very hard sport), having an amazing meal with austrian specialities and finishing our day with a hot chocolate at the corner of a chimney!
Actually, I am from Austria but I live in Hamburg, Germany since 3 years and it would be soooo great to come back to my home country for holidays!!
I love the alps and I love hiking there… You always meet nice people and of course the best thing is the great food 🙂
I hope I will win… 🙂
A bit of hiking, taking pictures of the beautiful landscape and nature, swimming/lounging/reading at the lake, and in between some amazing food. Sounds pretty perfect to me.
As me and my best friend are both finishing our studies next summer. This would be a fantastic chance to take a break from studying, to relax and to enjoy a weekend together before we graduate.
well, I am not realy an active type of person (some might describe me as lazy 🙂 ) but I enjoy just being in beautifull nature a lot. My ideal day in tha Austrian alps would start of with a nice locally sourced breakfast, followed by a hike in the area, lunch in a pittoresque alpine town after which we would head back to the hotel for a swim and some time with a good book and views of the lake. And of course I wouldn’t mind finishing the day with that amazing looking dinner plate!
A perfect day in the alps would be any day I get to spend there! 😀 my husband and I have a mountain biking tour company in Vermont, and he would be in heaven exploring some mtb trails in the alps!!! Exploring the awe inspiring natural beauty of the countryside sounds perfect to me 🙂 a morning hike, followed by lunch and an afternoon mountain bike ride, all capped off with a beer – that would be my perfect day in the Alps 🙂
My perfect day in the alps would include taking a good friend with me who worked as a sheperd in the alps during summer – But instead of getting up at 4.30 am, as she was forced to do, we would sleep in, at least a little, then catch up with each others lifes while hiking to the top of one of the mountains (keep your fingers crossed, I can keep track with her, as she is very fit). Before this we would, of course, enjoy a tasteful and healthy regional breakfast. In the afternoon, after a quick stop for snacks, we would chill at the lake, swim a little and enjoy the sunshine. In the evening we would feast ourselves through the menu, as we both love good food, and then sip some regional wine and watch an incredible sunset. Late at night we would snuggle into the cosy beds and sleep as a baby.
Wow this is amazing! I’ve yet to go to Austria, but I think a great day would be strolling around, and admiring the gorgeous sights, definitely go for a swim if it’s the summer! I’d just relish in the happiness of it all I think.
A perfect day in the Alps for me…might be a bit difficult to imagine since I haven’t been there before but I’ll try 🙂
Waking up to a gorgeous view of the Alps and proceeding to have breakfast slowly instead of a rush, admiring the splendor of the mountains and breathing in fresh mountain air!
Then, going out to hike a little and bask in the beauty of nature all around me. All the while feeling so grateful for having the chance to be able to get there. I would love to be there during winter time so that I can finally get my chance to see snow! Maybe also get a chance to try and learn how to ski…that would be perfect to be able to ski on the Alps 🙂
In the evening, staying in the hotel and cozying up to a good glass of wine after an amazing dinner; and enjoying a nice chat with my friend or savoring a good book would round up the day very nicely!
Wow, what a great giveaway!!!
The place looks incredibly divine! It looks beautiful with all that snow but I don’t enjoy the cold that much so I would go in summer or spring. My perfect day would began with breakfast in the balcony, just enjoying the surrodings and being away from the stress of the big cities. Then I would go hiking and exploring all the nature and local customs and maybe have a nice picnic by the lake. I definitely want to swim in that lake! In the evening I would eat that delicious food with a glass of local wine surrounded by that beautiful scenery.
My perfect day in the Alps would be spent outdoors – hiking, taking pictures, and exploring!
This is the scenery of my dreams!! 🙂
Visiting the Austrian Alps would be such an amazing opportunity. I’ve been to Vienna before and loved the people, culture and food but never had the experience of going outside of a big city. My ideal day in the Austrian alps would be a mix of activities and relaxation. I would love to go in winter, to hopefully help me conquer some of my fears! I’ve always been to afraid to ski (heights and I tend to be overly cautious) but travel is all about new experiences. I’d love to try to learn how to ski. Hello Bunny Slopes! I’d also love to go ice skating on the frozen pond. My husband (who’d I’d bring along with me, as I’m looking to travel anywhere new and exciting for our first anniversary) is an ice hockey player and he’d love that experience. After, we tired ourself out for the day, I’d love to slip into warm clothes and eat a local and delicious Austrian meal. We’d spend the rest of the night relaxing, hopefully by a fire with hot chocolate, or sitting outside on our balcony taking in the beautiful scenery!
Outdoors, skiing or hiking and of course some austrian food and lots of Gösser.
My ideal day would be to wake up with breakfast in my hotel room, exploring Vienna and its beautiful sights, enjoying a traditional Austrian meal, and spend the night out in the bars!
Walking around enjoying fresh air to the fullest and taking photos 🙂
My ideal day in the Austrian Alps: Waking up. Cuddling in bed with my boyfriend. Dozing off again. Having breakfast with that beautiful view! And then off to some hiking and climbing if possible. A small late lunch. Some reading on the terrace. Going to the Sauna or a dip in the lake (or maybe both :D). Then that fabulous looking dinner! And finally a drink and a late night walk, before going to sleep and doing it all again 🙂 Thank you for this wonderful calendar, Travelettes!
This one sums up an amazing weekend get-away in the heart of the beautiful Austrian mountains. It looks like the perfect spot to unwind, to hike around and discover the nature and interact with the family and have a sneak peek into the tough and dynamic life of a family run Geniesserhotel. I’m soooo looking forward to breathing the fresh and clear air and start my day with a glas of fresh milk. Greets, Iris
Oh my God, this place looks so peaceful!Perfect for taking a little pause and relax after finishig university 😉 I’ d love to go there with my bestfriend since she loves mountains and the fields too. So our perfect day would be like: waking up quite early in the morning and have a big and delcious breakfast to get the energy for the day, then hiking and getting lost in the nature while the only thing we can hear is our laughs! 🙂 Then coming back in the late afternoon have a hot shower and after that talk in front of a hot cup of tea, sitting on a comfy sofa and feeling our legs hurting because we havewalked too much during the day, but there were too many things to see that we couldn’t help it ! 🙂 I think this could be a great holiday !
My perfect day in the Austrian Alps would start with a hot cup of tea and breakfast with a beautiful view. Then after enjoying a slow morning, I would go hiking and have a picnic lunch in nature, then take a relaxing swim. If there is time, I’d take a stroll through the village and chat with the locals. An amazing local dinner, delicious wine and the company of locals and other travelers would round out my day. Finally, I would sink into the comfy bed and drift off into a deep sleep.
Today is my birthday and this would be an amazing present! I love the nature, I love regional food, I can just imagine how perfect this stay would be.
Id spend the perfect day in the alps hiking with my toddler on my back and singing the songs of The Sound Of Music to him
The hills are alive with the sound of muuusic laa laa laa laa
That scenery is made of pure magic!! the pictures look like they are from a fairytale! i’m a nature lover like the family that runs the hotel! i love a warm and cozy atmosphere and i really really wanna go to Austria! it would be a great opportunity to explore the wonderful nature of the Austian alps and to interact with interesting people!
An ideal day in Austria- does anyone else start hearing the Sound of Music soundtrack in their head? No- just me? Alright. Well a an ideal day in the Austrian Alps would include a wonderful breakfast with an even more wonderful view. Then my best friend and I would spend the day exploring the gorgeous surroundings: hiking and swimming in the winter or maybe skiing in the winter months. I’d also love to find one of those hangers, those pods you can ride up to the top of the mountain and see some of the beautiful views. After a wonderful day exploring, hiking, taking pictures of our yoga practice in the alps, I think an authentic meal and beer would be in order. Or wine. Or both?! Then, to end the day how about watching the stars light up the evening sky and wishing the day would never end? The end. Side-note: this looks amazing and I’d absolutely loooove to take my best friend (who has never been out of the country) on a trip in 2016!!
A perfect day in the alps would mean for me: waking up to sunshine and snow, having a wonderful long breakfast while reading a newspaper, in the morning I’ll frolic through the Alps a la Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, look for a quite spot to clear my head from worries and stress in the middle of nature. I would fill my afternoon by spending some time skiing down a beautiful perfect slope and end the day with a cosy Glühwein before heading back to my hotel and having a romantic dinner. After dinner I would take one last look outside and count as many stars as my eyes and see and totally unwind and detach myself from the real world before drifting off to sleep.
My hubby and I desperately need a break this winter. I suffer from severe SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and this is my second full winter in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s been rough, coming from Cape Town to Frankfurt! I could really do with a change in scenery – to escape the grim greyness of the city and come alive again in nature. This Austrian getaway sounds divine, EXACTLY what we need! Just some time to unwind in a winter wonderland, some exercise in the snow, and time just to ourselves, away from work and social media.
I am currently unable to work full time due to my mental health, so saving for travel is becoming difficult! A break would make a much-needed difference to our lives right now, especially for looking towards a brighter 2016 🙂
* I forgot to add, the ideal day would be a delicious brunch and great Austrian coffee with my hubby, a full day outdoors in the snow, dinner by the fire, and a most glorious night’s sleep 🙂
One perfect day; just means to be with a loved one; especially with snow and eating good food; breathing fresh air and take a lantern walk at night..ahh this would be just amazing!
Ideal day would be hiking and exploring the area nearby with a gourmet picnic lunch!
I would love to take my gf. My kind ob day in austria would be putting on my hiking shoes, packing a sandwich, sunglasses and straight up to the hills to be closer to the sun.
This hotel looks beyond gorgeous! I’ll be right around the corner in France in the spring, so it would be wonderful to make a visit over to Austria (a country I’ve never been to!) while I’m there. My ideal day in the Austrian alps would involve a breakfast at the hotel with delicious, fresh ingredients. During the day I would want to go out hiking in the fresh air and explore everything that I can, ending off with an evening walking around the lake 🙂 This place sounds just about perfect!
I live in Los Angeles & my love lives in Germany. This would be a sweet getaway for the two of us for the next time I visit. It would be awesome to surprise him with this for Christmas! We both love snowboarding in the winter and we take his hammock with us everywhere for relaxation in nature during the summers. It would be perfect!
My perfect day in the Alps, First I would need to be with my husband since we met in the Austrian Alps (Schladming to be exact). It would be summer 🙂 We would start the day with a delicious, fresh breakfast at the hotel, then we would explore the town. In town we would buy a picnic lunch (bread, cheese, wine and chocolate is a perfect picnic lunch) then go off to hike in the mountains, stopping to enjoy our lunch and the amazing view. In the late afternoon we would enjoy a swim in the lake to cool off and relax after the hike. For evening, a walk around the lake and dinner, again with the locally sourced food.
I love Austria!
My perfect day in the Alps would be waking up for the sunrise, hiking through fields and flowers, having a picnic and reading all afternoon.
